Disclaimer: I am judging purely based on their promo looks and their individual Meet the Queens videos.
Aja
Reminds me of: Naomi Smalls, and her outfit matches the colours of Kim Chi's promo look.
Alexis Michelle
I am loving Alexis Michelle. She exudes confidence without being cocky (unlike some of the queens I'll talk about later), and class without acting superior. I love her outfit, and the way her makeup ties into the dress. I see her leaving sometime after Snatch Game, although ideally I'd like her to make it to top 3.
Reminds me of: Delta Work.
Charlie Hides
I desperately want Charlie Hides to be in the top 3. I hope she doesn't get the old queen treatment and get kicked off early. She seems very smart and like she knows how to play the game. I really hope she doesn't disappoint. I love the look, the colours are great (and are Aja's wig and outfit colours reversed) and I especially love the eyepiece. I think she will be definitely one to watch.
Sidenote - HOW is she 52?? Girl looks good.
Reminds me of: I don't know.
Eureka O'Hara
Eureka seems fun, she appears to have a lot of personality, but does she have what it takes to be America's next drag superstar? I don't know. I love her confidence, being a big girl, she gives me a bit of a Latrice vibe. While I like the colour of the outfit, I don't like the ensemble itself. I don't particularly like the hair, and I would like the dress to be longer. I'm curious about her name, how she removed the O'Hara for the show - does she not want people to associate her with Phi Phi? Also, she is NOT 25.
Reminds me of: Latrice Royale, Ginger Minj.
Farrah Moan
Unpopular opinion: I don't care about Farrah Moan. At all. She looks beautiful and photographs well, but I don't think she has personality, and she didn't make enough of an impression on me for me to form a real opinion on her. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike her, but I also don't think she should make it very far. We'll see though, I don't mind being proved wrong.
Reminds me of: Courtney Act, Violet Chachki, Derrick Barry.
Jaymes Mansfield
I'm not a fan of Jaymes Mansfield. I don't like the look and I certainly don't like the weird creepy baby voice. It seems that everyone either loves or hates her, which is interesting, I think she is very polarising. As with Farrah, I'm waiting to be proved wrong, but I don't see myself becoming a fan of hers. I see her going early on.
Reminds me of: Jinkx Monsoon, BenDeLaCreme (even though I like both of them).
Kimora Blac
If I didn't care for Farrah Moan, and I didn't like Jaymes Mansfield, then I absolutely hated Kimora Blac. She is obnoxious, stuck up, pretentious, vapid and bland. I am happy at least that we've found our villain. Unfortunately this means that she'll probably stick around for quite a while. In an ideal world, she'd be first to go home. I'll give her this though, she does look hot in drag. Out of drag, she looks like a plastic surgery disaster.
Reminds me of: Venus D-Lite.
Nina Bo'Nina Brown
I LOVE Nina Bo'Nina Brown. Everything about her, her look, sense of humour, personality. She has it all. I don't think she'll win but I think (/hope) she'll go far. I'm concerned though because quirky look queens like this never seem to make it far. We'll see, but nevertheless I'm beyond excited to see more from her.
Reminds me of: Acid Betty, Nina Flowers.
Peppermint
Huge props to Peppermint for being the first transgender contestant to be open before the show. However, I don't think it is a good sign that when I first started writing out this list, I could not for the life of me remember her. America's next drag superstar, above all, needs to be memorable. Also, that hairline? Girl.
Reminds me of: Kennedy Davenport.
Sasha Velour
Sasha is my absolute favourite this season, and despite the fact that my favourites never win, I can definitely see Sasha winning, or at the very least in the top 3. She is the real deal - she's intelligent, she's stylish, she's got a sense of humour and a personality. It doesn't get any better than this. Everything about this look is amazing, I love her signature monobrow, and how is that fascinator staying on her head?
Reminds me of: Violet Chachki.
Shea Couleé
Shea is one of the only two queens I outright dislike this season. I love the look, but I found her cocky and arrogant: "I'm gorgeous, I'm talented, I can sew, I can dance, I can act, I can sing, I can put my legs behind my head, I can speak French". I also found it irritating how she had a Laganja-esque soundboard, continually just saying common phrases. I see her making it pretty far though.
Reminds me of: BeBe Zahara Benet, Laganja Estranja.
Trinity Taylor
*spoiler alert* Before I heard about the leak that Peppermint is going home first, I said Trinity was going home first. Now I think she's going home second. She seems nice though.
Reminds me of: Sasha Belle.
Valentina
Valentina is on the same level to me as Farrah Moan, everyone loves them but I don't really care. She is beautiful, and I love this photo, but there is something off about her and I don't know what it is. Everyone seems to think she will go very far, I'd put her at about the halfway mark.
Reminds me of: Tatianna, Naysha Lopez.
So there you go, those are my opinions on the cast of Season 9. I'm sure many of my thoughts don't align with yours, and that's fine. It's not personal, it's just drag.
